Scania is perhaps most known internationally as a truck.
But it¡s an old name and a very old landscape in the southern part of
Sweden. Scanias history is filled with blood and violence as the Germans,
The Danes and especially the Swedes destroyed our beautiful landscape,
burned down our cities and killed thousands of innocent people living
here. All this happened between 300 and 500 years ago.

Today
Scania is the most important food region in Sweden.
The region produces wheat, vegetables, apples, potatoes, peas, sugar-beats
and meat from pigs, lambs and cows.
The fish is common around the landscape. Scania is close to Denmark, which
it once belonged to and the bridge over the often troubled waters of the
Sound, connects Scania with the Danish capital city Copenhagen. The climate
is typically Scandinavian, windy as the storms catch us from the North
Atlantic Ocean, cold in winter with sometimes lots of snow and a far to
short summer. It's often rainy but the seas surrounding the landscape
makes the climate stabile.
The bridge between Denmark and Sweden, Copenhagen and Malmoe, is the longest
bridge in Europe.
In the year 2002 two people from Scania and two Italians decided to start
a Slow Food convivium sharing the same philosophy as the Slow Food movement.
After just two years we were 150 members.
We arrange 8 or 10 meetings with our members every year.
We enjoy the local food as fish, lamb, apples, and soups but also enjoy
food from abroad. We have arranged wine tests with wine from Italy and
Chile. From the start of our convivium we have arranged over 50 events
concerning good food.
